ISU Communication 2431: 4CC relocation, JGPF qualification, etc

SYWTW FS

The ISU Council has announced the decisions from their Oct. 1-2 meeting.

1) The 2022 Four Continents Championships, previously planned for Tianjin, China, will be relocated to Tallinn, Estonia from Jan. 18-23 since no other ISU members bid for it. The Four Continents Championships take place the week after the European Championships, which is also held in Tallinn at the same venue.

2) Due to pandemic-induced difficulties in assigning skaters to Junior Grand Prix events normally, the qualification process for the Junior Grand Prix Final has been adjusted for the 2021-22 season:

Singles: (6 or 7 qualifiers + 1 host spot)

  • Winners of Junior Grand Prix events: If there are 7 different winners, they will all qualify for the Final. If there are 6 different winners, those 6 skaters will qualify for the Final.

  • If there are fewer than 6 different winners, the remaining spots will go to the highest ranked skaters who placed 2nd or 3rd based on total score from their events.

  • Japan, the hosting nation, will be given 1 wild card spot each in men’s and women’s.

Pairs: (4 qualifiers)

  • Winners of Junior Grand Prix events: If there are 4 different winners, they will all qualify for the Final.

  • If there are fewer than 4 different winners, the remaining spots will go to the highest ranked teams who placed 2nd or 3rd based on total score from their events.

Ice Dance: (6 or 7 qualifiers)

  • Winners of Junior Grand Prix events: If there are 7 different winners, they will all qualify for the Final. If there are 6 different winners, those 6 teams will qualify for the Final.

  • If there are fewer than 6 different winners, the remaining spots will go to the highest ranked teams who placed 2nd or 3rd based on total score from their events.

Substitutes (all disciplines):

  • 3 substitutes composed of the next best ranked skaters who placed 2nd or 3rd based on total score
